2. Data we collect
When you book or contact us we may collect:
- Identification: first and last name, ID document, nationality
- Contact: email, phone
- Booking data: dates, room, guests, booked tours
- Browsing data: cookies and analytics data (see the Cookie Policy)
We do not collect or store credit card details. Payments are processed by Wompi, an authorized entity, in its own secure environment.
Sensitive data: we do not request or process sensitive data (ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, health, biometric data). If you voluntarily share any (for example, a dietary or health restriction), we will process it only to provide the service, and you have the right not to answer.
3. How we use your data
- To manage and confirm your booking
- To communicate with you before, during and after your stay
- To comply with legal obligations (guest registration, reports to immigration authorities for foreign guests, tax obligations)
- To send you Melo marketing information, only if you authorize it
- To improve our services and the website
4. Who we share your data with
We share only what is necessary with:
- Cloudbeds (property management system) — processes your booking
- Wompi (payment gateway) — processes your payment
- Partner tour and boat operators — only if you book those services
- Authorities — when required by law (Migración Colombia, DIAN, etc.)
Some providers are located outside Colombia. By accepting this policy you authorize the international transfer of your data to those providers, which maintain adequate protection standards.
5. Your rights (Habeas Data)
As the data subject you have the right to:
- Know, update and correct your data
- Request proof of the authorization you granted
- Be informed about the use made of your data
- File complaints with the SIC (Colombia's data protection authority) for violations
- Revoke your authorization and/or request the deletion of your data, when no legal or contractual duty prevents it
- Access your data free of charge
How to exercise them: write to to be confirmed with your name, ID and specific request. We will respond within the legal terms (inquiries: 10 business days; claims: 15 business days).
6. Retention
We keep your data while the commercial relationship exists and, afterwards, for the periods required by law (tax, tourism and immigration).
7. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. The site uses SSL encryption. No system is infallible; if an incident affecting your data occurs, we will inform you and notify the authority as required by law.
8. Minors
Melo is for adults 18+ only and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version will always be published here.
